October 6, 2010 – 97.1 AMP RADIO (KAMP-FM) is going “Pink For October,” in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Additionally, AMP RADIO is pleased to announce an alliance with Stand Up To Cancer (http://www.standup2cancer.org) to become the official charity of the month-long initiative.
As part of this program, AMP RADIO will devote air-time throughout the month to educating their audience on prevention, encouraging listeners to get involved and raising donations for cancer research.
“AMP is proud to unite our team with our great listeners in the fight against breast cancer,” said Kevin Weatherly, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO and Program Director for 97.1 AMP RADIO. “Our goal with ‘PINK For October’ is to engage our staff, the artists we play and our audience together in one movement to get the word out. We’re excited about the relationship with Stand Up To Cancer, and we have some really unique ‘PINK’ ideas being introduced this month.”
“We’re thrilled that AMP RADIO is supporting Stand Up To Cancer as part of its going ‘PINK for October’ efforts,” said SU2C co-founder and partner of The Robertson Schwartz Agency, Sue Schwartz. “Stand Up is a grassroots movement. We want each and every person to know they can help the scientists working to end cancer, and having AMP RADIO communicate that to all of its listeners brings us closer to that goal.”
AMP RADIO’s inaugural “PINK For October” campaign includes various cause related programs including an artists showcase with Katy Perry, an online charity auction featuring memorabilia and experiences from artists, active community events like the Run For Her Life 10k / 5K, limited edition “PINK” merchandise, public service announcements and a mobile text to donate platform with Stand Up To Cancer.
